Rules for Borrowing Library Space
  1. NCTU Library provides Study Carrels and Discuss Room for research purposes.
  2. Applicant :
    1. Study Carrels: NCTU full-time teachers, graduate students or seniors who are working on research or writing dissertations are allowed to apply for the Study Carrels.
    2. Discuss Room: NCTU full-time teachers, faculties, students for group numbering more than 3 persons.
  3. Making a reservation through Library Space Borrowing System :
    1. Study Carrels: Users can reserve Study Carrels by a daily basis at most seven days which is separable up to two sessions and one room is available at one time. Users can use their Student IDs or Service IDs to enter Study Carrels in the reserved time.
    2. Discuss Room: Group should make a reservation before using the Discuss Room. The timeframe of the registered use of Discuss Room is limited to four hours.
  4. Terms of use :
    1. Study Carrels: Users should use their own IDs to enter the room in the reserved time. If a user does not use the carrel over one day, the reservation will be cancelled and become available for other users. Users have to cancel or change their reservation 24 hours earlier or will be counted as one point.
    2. Discuss Room: Users should use 3 IDs of applicants to enter the room in the reserved time. If a group does not use the Discuss Room in the reserved time, the reservation will be cancelled and become available for other groups. Users have to cancel or change their reservation if can’t come or will be counted as one point.
  5. Library Space borrowing rights includes Study Carrels and Discuss Rooms. The violation records are calculated separately. Users who do not use the library spaces in reserved time twice within 30 days will be suspended for 30 days.
  6. Users who have one of the following behaviors in the Study Carrels or Discuss Rooms will be counted as one point. And 3 points result to a suspension for 30 days:
    1. Users who booked the Study Carrels or Discuss Rooms and transfer to other users.
    2. Food and drink in the Study Carrels or the Discuss Rooms.
    3. Loud discussion or any improper behaviors or hanging any objects on doors and windows.
    4. Not turning off the electric devices before leaving the room. Trash not be thrown away in trash cans. Users don’t return tables and chairs to their original positions before leaving the room.
    5. Not checking out the library materials or books and bring them to the Study Carrels or Discuss Rooms.
  • Library staff has the right to enter the Study Carrels or Discuss Rooms without user’s permission for the purpose of inventory and room keeping.
  • Please keep the valuables by yourself. The library is not responsible for any loss or damage.
  • The regulation and revision are implemented after being passed by Library Affairs Council.
